Detecting Cashback Rewards

We’re excited to announce that we launched “Cashback” as a new tag. Cashback is a card benefit that refunds the cardholder a small percentage of the amount spent on each purchase. You will see transactions with this tag surface in the other_inflows endpoint.

We’re excited to announce that we launched “Cashback” as a new tag. Cashback is a card benefit that refunds the cardholder a small percentage of the amount spent on each purchase. You will see transactions with this tag surface in the other_inflows endpoint.

Some Key Findings

  • We observed 6.12% month-over-month growth of Cashback transactions over the past year
  • Average Cashback dollar amount: $37.55
  • Around 9% of the users in our database get Cashback

Why this matters

Cashback rewards are a source of additional funds that can potentially be redirected towards paying off debt, allocating to a savings account, or routing towards a budget goal.
